UPMC Pain Medicine Division Seeking BC/BE Fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Physician to Join Rapidly Growing Practice

​The UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) Pain Medicine Division is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained interventional pain physician to join a rapidly growing group practice at multiple locations in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.  The University of Pittsburgh-affiliated position presents a great opportunity to join other physicians in a state-of-the-art outpatient facility (which includes inpatient services) and pursue research interests, with four or five days a week of clinical effort. Competitive compensation includes salary, incentives, benefits, retirement, and malpractice insurance. ​

About the UPMC Pain Medicine Division:

The UPMC Division of Pain Medicine is a program of comprehensive clinical, research, and educational components committed to the evaluation and treatment of the entire range of pain, disability, and rehabilitation concerns. The division offers an interdisciplinary team approach that includes dedicated professionals from several different specialties, including anesthesiology, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and neurology. This multidimensional treatment approach addresses the complex interaction between biological, psychological, and social factors in the perception and management of pain.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating and diagnosing pain disorders and formulating appropriate treatment plans such as interventions or medical management
  • Evaluating patients with a multidisciplinary team to determine which candidates are appropriate for multimodal treatment plans
  • Considering neuromodulation in the treatment plan and helping to grow this service
  • Providing quality of care in a professional manner
  • Practicing and living the UPMC core values and the division’s strategic plan

Requirements:

  • Pennsylvania medical license
  • DEA
  • ABA Certification in Pain Management​
  • ACLS/BLS

University of Virginia Position (listed on website 3/5/2021)

The University of Virginia Department of Anesthesiology and Division of Pain Medicine is seeking ABA certified or eligible physician candidates with fellowship training in Pain Management committed to a career in academic medicine to join our multi-disciplinary Pain Management Center.  Our Pain Management Center and Acute Pain Service is designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Pain Society.  We have 10,500 outpatient visits including 4000 outpatient procedures each year. We are currently in the process of expanding our current facility to meet the growing demands of our practice.  

The Department has an enduring commitment to teaching and the interested candidate must have a strong interest in the core values of our institution, including a commitment to clinical practice, teaching, and research.  The position is open rank, open tenure.  Candidates with neuromodulation experience preferred, but not required.  Our unique practice also allows the candidate the opportunity to work in the operating room providing operative anesthesia and/or work on the Department’s Acute Pain Service, if interested. 

The candidate will complement a strong faculty that is active in health leadership and productive in clinical research.  The ACGME accredited fellowship program currently consists of 6 fellows from diverse core specialty backgrounds.  Pathways and mentorship for further professional development are highly available.
