Ochsner Health is seeking a BC/BE Anesthesiologist or PM&R Physician, fellowship trained in Interventional Pain Management, to join our expanding Interventional Pain Medicine program and lead our ACGME-accredited fellowship program at Ochsner Baptist Medical Center, located in New Orleans. Preferred candidates will have a strong interest in chronic pain management and be able to provide interventional and comprehensive care in the outpatient as well as the perioperative setting.  As this is an academic program, candidates must be willing to commit to teaching, mentorship and coaching, research, collaboration with academic institutions, along with administrative responsibilities around budget, schedules, and report outs. The successful applicant will be comfortable developing relationships in an expanding referral network and be committed to using comprehensive electronic medical records. Our interventional pain program is a component of the Department of Anesthesiology, with a fully accredited residency and pain fellowship program.

Emory Pain Division Director Position (listed on website 2/22/2022)

Job Purpose: To aid the Department in leading the medical practice of the Department’s Pain Division

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The Division Director will:

  • Aid and advise the Chair and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in all patient care-related aspects of developing and maintaining clinical services of the Pain Division,
  • Work with Operations Chief to ensure all clinical sites are adequately staffed
  • Work with Chair and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs to determine appropriate areas to expand outpatient clinics, interventional locations and services,
  • Work with Operations Chief to establish collaborative Departments to expand the Clinic locations and Interventional Pain Divisions,
  • Ensure members of the Division maintain current knowledge and contemporary practice of Pain Medicine. Ensure Division’s clinical team has skills to manage specialized, individual patient care of patients with complex pain conditions using a wide variety of pharmacologic, interventional and non-interventional techniques,
  • Work with the Director of Interventional Pain Therapies to ensure members of the Division maintain skills and are trained in relevant emerging therapies
  • Work with Director of Cancer Pain to maximize collaboration with cancer related medical specialties
  • Work with Director of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain to facilitate clinical care for regional anesthesia and acute pain service across all of the clinical sites,
  • Work with Pain Research Leadership Team to develop and cultivate research within the Pain Division
  • Work with Multidisciplinary Pain Fellowship Program Director to ensure faculty are engaged in the education of Pain Fellows. Work with the rotation director to ensure faculty are engaged in the education of residents on their pain rotation
  • Work with Administrator to manage the Division’s Financial performance,
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and provide guidance in clinical care,
  • Provide faculty mentoring, including assistance with promotion planning and annual CCPR reviews, giving faculty actionable feedback
  • Manage human resource issues in consultation with the department’s Director of Human Resources, Chair, and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs,
  • Participate in physician recruitment and recommend candidates to the Chair,
  • Work closely with Quality Officer and Vice Chair for Quality to improve quality outcomes and patient satisfaction,
  • Work with the Operations Chief and clinical staff to improve the Department’s compliance with CMS and other relevant regulations,
  • Work with the Administrator and, when asked, the Office of Compliance to ensure billing compliance,
  • Contribute to the formulation of policy and strategy of the department as requested by the Chair,
  • Provide reports to the Office of the Chair when requested.

Time Allocation: The Director will receive 20% nonclinical time to fulfill the requirements of the post at the discretion of the Chair.

Report: The Division Director reports to the Office of the Chair and will meet with the Chair or the Chair’s designee upon the request of either party.

About the UPMC Pain Medicine Division:

The UPMC Division of Pain Medicine is a program of comprehensive clinical, research, and educational components committed to the evaluation and treatment of the entire range of pain, disability, and rehabilitation concerns. The division offers an interdisciplinary team approach that includes dedicated professionals from several different specialties, including anesthesiology, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and neurology. This multidimensional treatment approach addresses the complex interaction between biological, psychological, and social factors in the perception and management of pain.

The University of Virginia Department of Anesthesiology and Division of Pain Medicine is seeking ABA certified or eligible physician candidates with fellowship training in Pain Management committed to a career in academic medicine to join our multi-disciplinary Pain Management Center.  Our Pain Management Center and Acute Pain Service is designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Pain Society.  We have 10,500 outpatient visits including 4000 outpatient procedures each year. We are currently in the process of expanding our current facility to meet the growing demands of our practice.
